The legend of pirate Jose' Gaspar is immortalized in this weekend's ballet, "Gaspar, A Pirate Fantasy."
Bay News 9 caught up with the pirate troupe during rehearsals for their Sunday performances at the Straz Center in Tampa.
It is the second year for the ballet, returning after a 16-year hiatus.
"We've got pirates coming down the aisles throwing beads," explained executive producer Sharon Sanchez, "we have Gaspar swinging in on his rope, we have yelling and cheering."
The dancers are a mix of professionals and ballet students from the Bay Area.
"Our mission was not only to expose people to the arts," said Sanchez, "but also give our students a chance to learn through a professional company."
Children are invited early to come to the Kid Fest one hour prior to their 1pm and 6pm performances.
There is also a meet and greet with the ballet stars after the shows.
