Overturned car spills marijuana and cash on highway

A car has overturned on Interstate-275 in St. Petersburg near the 4th Street exit ramp on Friday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol says that a 2004 Dodge Durango was exiting onto the 4th Street ramp from I-275, when the driver, Wayne Owen, 45, lost control of the vehicle, leading it to flip several times.

According to the report, Owen and passenger Tonya Wimbley, 44, attempted to flee the scene after the crash.

Reports previously stated that a white substance spilled from the car, which Florida Highway Patrol discovered was carpet cleaner.

Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that during their investigation, marijuana and a large amount of cash was located.

Both Owen and Wimbley have been booked into Pinellas County Jail and will be charged with possession of marijuana.
