A pregame tribute to the late George Steinbrenner was held before Friday night's sold out Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees baseball game at the Tropicana Dome.
Players and fans held a moment of silence for Steinbrenner who impacted the Yankees organization and the Tampa Bay community.
"I think it's fitting," said a fan. "He's been a big person in baseball and he's been a big person in the community as well."
Following the tribute to "The Boss," it was back to baseball in the three game series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees, all of which have been sold out.
Friday was the first of the three game series, which will continue with the other games on Saturday and Sunday.
