A 44-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning when a pick-up truck and a school bus collided in Largo.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the pick-up truck was headed south on 130th Avenue in the left turn lane, while the Pinellas County school bus, driven by Debra Jones, 45, was traveling west on Ulmerton Road in the center lane.
Investigators said the driver of the pick-up truck stopped at the stop sign, then entered the intersection, which was when the truck was hit by the front end of the school bus.
The man was thrown from the vehicle. Emergency crews took him to Largo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released pending the notification of next of kin.
A passenger in the car, 54-year-old Glenn Houge, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in serious condition.
Jones was not seriously injured.
No children were on the bus at the time of the crash.
Investigators said the school bus sustained about $9,000 worth of damage.
The investigation continues.
