A teenager was arrested Wednesday after police said he shot a man after an argument over $2.
According to reports, the shooting took place just before 4 p.m. on 13th Street in Lakeland. Police said that when they arrived, they found Tommie McGowan, 43, suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
McGowan was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for treatment for injuries that are described as not life-threatening.
Investigators said McGowan and the 17-year-old suspect had been arguing outside over $2, and that when McGowan walked back toward his residence, the suspect shot him in the shoulder with a .22-caliber rifle.
The suspect is currently on probation for armed burglary and was being monitored by an ankle bracelet. He was arrested later that day at a relative's home without incident.
He is facing charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, delinquent in possession of a firearm and violation of home detention.
