Police arrested a man they believe is responsible for nearly a dozen convenience store robberies across the Bay area.
According to reports, police had placed Jackie Allen Randall, 28, under surveillance after they received information indicating he was a potential suspect in a series of robberies around the Bay area.
At about 1:30 a.m. Friday, police said they saw Randall walk into the Circle K on 62nd Avenue in Pinellas Park with a shirt covering his face. They said he brandished a 9mm pistol and demanded money from the clerk.
Police said Randall took money from two registers, then ran out of the store and into a nearby neighborhood, where he has parked a maroon Ford Explorer to use in his getaway.
Instead, Randall was confronted by officers, who arrested him without incident, police said.
Randall is a suspect in a series of 10 other convenience store robberies in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties that took place in August, including an Aug. 19 robbery of a 7-11 on 4th Street N. In St. Petersburg, where police said the suspect threatened the clerk with a large butcher knife.
Randall had previously served a 10-year sentence for robbery. He was released from prison December 2009.
