Woman arrested after deputies find baby on curb

ST. PETERSBURG --

A woman was arrested after deputies said they found her 9-month-old child on the side of a St. Petersburg road.

According to reports, Amanda Gallegos, 22, was staying with the baby at a hotel in unincorporated St. Petersburg when she took two pills of roxicodone.

Deputies said Gallegos then left the baby alone in the motel room to make a phone call in the front lobby and left the door ajar.

While she was gone, deputies said the child pushed the door open and crawled outside the motel. The deputy found the baby a short while later on the curb.

Gallegos was arrested and charged with child neglect. She is being held without bail at the Pinellas County Jail.
