Teen caught 'escaping' youth camp

BROOKSVILLE --

A 16-year-old boy was transported to the Hernando County Jail after he escaped from a Brooksville youth camp, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the teen escaped on foot, from the Eckerd Youth Camp, where he was placed by court order. They say the boy ignored several commands to stop.

Officials say he admitted he was leaving and heading home to Tampa. He will now be transported to Ocala.
