A construction worker was rushed to Tampa General Hospital early Friday after being hit by a semi-truck trailer on Interstate 75.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Jesus L. Gonzales was hit just after midnight while working on a lane-widening project on I-75 near State Road 56 in southern Pasco County.
Troopers said the semi was headed north on the interstate near the construction zone when the driver, Antonio Graham of Georgia, braked sharply.
The trailer of the semi slid into the barricaded lane where Gonzales was working, striking him.
Officials said Gonzales was taken by helicopter to the hospital.
He is listed in serious condition.
Officials issued Graham a failure to use due care ticket.
