Bradenton man tried to abduct 7-year-old girl, deputies say

Deputies have arrested a 20-year-old Bradenton man they say tried to abduct a 7-year-old girl.

Kelvin Joshua Oakley was arrested Sunday and charged with attempted kidnapping. He is being held at the Manatee County Jail on $250,000 bond.

According to the Manatee Sheriff's deputies, three girls, ages 7, 9 10, said they were playing at Pride Park in Bradenton when a man approached them and grabbed the 7-year-old girl by the arm. The man allegedly told the girls he had a secret and they had to come with him.

The 7-year-old managed to get away, and the girls started to run, but the suspect grabbed the 7-year-old girl again, deputies said. The girls finally escaped and went to a nearby home to report the incident to an adult.

Deputies arrived and identified Oakley as the suspect. They obtained a warrant and arrested him.
