James Wilder, Jr. will be a Florida State Seminole.
In an announcement carried live Wednesday afternoon on Bright House Sports Network, Wilder played to the crowd--teasing his choice two times, before he finally made his choice.
Wilder, a running back on offense and a linebacker on defense, is the top-ranked high school football recruit by MaxPreps, and the number-three recruit according to Rivals.
Wilder, in front of a packed Plant High auditorium, made his college plans known one week after teammates Phillip Ely and Tony Posada held their press conferences. Ely chose the University of Alabama while Posada picked the University of Michigan. That ceremony was also carried LIVE on BHSN.
Wilder is a defensive end and running back prospect, but has made it clear he wants to play running back in college. He mentioned that there are nine FSU running backs in the NFL, and he wants to continue that tradition.
Wilder Jr.'s father, James Wilder Sr. was a star in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backfield back in the 1980s, and still remains the franchise's all-time leading rusher.
