FREGOSI: ANOTHER ONE WHO SAYS IT’S A SHAME RAYS FANS DON’T SUPPORT

Former big league skipper Jim Fregosi says he can’t figure out why more fans aren’t coming out to the Trop. Fregosi is currently a scout with the Braves and in the interview that I did with him, he mentioned several times, Rafael Soriano. Soriano came over from the Braves and has been lights out. Getting back to Fregosi. He once told me that he loved to mix it up with sports talk radio hosts, especially in Philly. Said he’d be listening to his radio and getting ripped. He’d just be smiling. He would sometimes call in. I love that. His interview on the Toyota Sports Connection airs Tuesday night.

LONGORIA TELLS ALL

Rays superstar Evan Longoria sat down with me on Saturday morning in a wide-ranging interview. He’s was straight forward and answered everything I threw at him. I found it interesting that he admits life is different for him now, away from the field. He really can’t just go to a bar and hang out with a friend. How does he handle that? Tune in Wednesday and Thursday on the Toyota Sports Connection to hear his thoughts on that, and if he would like to play in his home of Southern California.

RAYS FANS LOVE THE WEEKENDS

Never thought I’d see the day when a Bucs game was half-filled with fans and at the same time a Rays game was sold out. It happened on Saturday night as the Rays hosted the Red Sox. Then again, Monday night against the Blue Jays, you could hear a pin drop inside the Trop. Yeah, the economy is in the toilet but this area loves to just wait until it’s playoff time. That’s it.

Rock Riley gives his behind the scenes thoughts on Toyota Sports Connection, seen each night at 11 p.m. on Bright House Sports Network (in High Definition on channel 1147), in his Rock Report blog every Monday and Thursday on BHSN.com.
