For the second year in a row, the Manatee Hurricanes wiped out Plant in a preseason kickoff classic football game.
The Panthers had the last laugh in 2009, beating Manatee in the Class 5A state championship game, but the Hurricanes' Mike Blakely is hoping history doesn't repeat itself.
The senior running back had a break-out performance against Plant, in a game broadcast on national television. Blakely ran for 146 yards, including an 89-yard touchdown run where he broke through James Wilder's grasp, and four total TDs (three rushing and one passing).
Blakely has not announced his collegiate commitment yet--he has a visit to Auburn scheduled, and he told ESPN that he prefers the Southeastern Conference. Florida and South Carolina are also potential destinations.
