Rays prized prospect Desmond Jennings made his major league debut for the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. Backed by a stellar pitching performance from David Price, the Rays beat the Toronto Blue Jays 2-1.
Jennings had a less than stellar debut, he was 0-for-3 with one strikeout. Jennings said nerves got the best of him during his first at bat. "I felt like my feet weren't on the ground during my first at bat...I'm glad to have my first game out of the way."
Jennings says,"it's really different at the major league level," but adds,"the team is loose and guys are fun, hopefully we will just keep winning."
As far as expectations for the talented outfielder, Jennings says he realizes he will not be playing everyday. His role with the Rays will be to pinch-run, pinch-hit and fill in the later innings of games.
