Phillip Ely scored on a one-yard first-half touchdown run a week after spraining his ankle in a preseason loss to Bradenton Manatee, as the two-time defending 5A State Champion Plant Panthers shut out Tampa Bay Tech, 10-0, on Friday night.

With the victory, the Panthers were able to exact a measure of revenge against the Titans, the only team to hand Plant a regular season loss a year ago.

Plant (1-0) will play their home opener next Friday when they host Hillsborough (0-1), who lost 30-14 to Jefferson (1-0). The Titans (0-1) will travel to Riverview (0-1), who dropped a 20-6 decision to Freedom (1-0).
