What is the FCAT?
The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test is the statewide program, testing students in:

  • Writing in grades 4, 8 and 10
  • Reading & math in grades 3 through 10
  • Science in grades 5, 8 and 11

Why do students take the FCAT?

  • Measures achievement of the Sunshine State Standards.
  • The plan is to increase student achievement by implementing high standards.
  • In the 2010-2011 school year, testing transitioned to the FCAT 2.0, the next generation of Sunshine State Standards.

At what grade levels must students pass the FCAT?

  • Grade 3 students must earn a FCAT Reading score of Level 2 or higher to be promoted to grade 4.
  • Graduating seniors must pass both Reading & Math of the Grade 10 FCAT to graduate from high school.

SCHOOL LETTER GRADES

The Florida Department of Education gives each school in the state a letter grade of  “A” through “F”. These annual grades are based on a number of factors: the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, high school’s graduation rate and more.
