Carol Minn Vacca - Reporter
Carol began her television career in Macon, Ga., WMAZ TV as an associate producer, later becoming the weekday morning and noon anchor. She later moved further north to Louisville, Ky. As a reporter at WHAS TV, she covered everything from the Kentucky Derby to tornadoes. She was also the weekend anchor during her two years there. A Georgia girl, Carol was ready for warmer winters again, and traded in tornadoes for hurricanes when she joined Bay News 9.
Carol grew up in Atlanta, Ga., where she attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. During her time there, she was named Miss Atlanta. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in international affairs, she joined the gubernatorial campaign staff of former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes as his scheduler. Shortly after, she entered Emory University School of Law. Almost immediately after obtaining her juris doctor degree, she was offered her first television job.
Carol was born in Seoul, Korea, and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was 6 years old. At the time, the only English words she knew were "Coca Cola." Having grown up in the south, she says she feels like she is home here in Tampa Bay. In her spare time, Carol loves anything outdoors, especially running or roller blading and now is enjoying the beaches of Tampa Bay. She also wants to become a better golfer.
