Menopause symptom relief

On a daily basis many women, alongside their doctors are looking for menopausal symptom relief.  Bay News 9's Extra On Today's Woman reporter, Charisse Strawberry has a few options for you.

One is Tibolone, a man-made steroid that mimicks a combination of the hormones estrogen and progestin.  Like combination hormone replacement therapy, Tibolone reduces hot flashes and prevents bone loss.

Tofu and other soy products and flax seed are two good sources of phytoestrogens, which are the plant sources of estrogen.  Some specialists say if you want to reduce hot flashes, you need to eat about two or three ounces of tofu a day.

Experts also suggest broccoli and dairy products for the calcium, and fruits and vegetables for the antioxidants.
