E-mail this story | Print

What better way to enjoy this special time with friends and family then with a nice warm cup of mulled cider. The smell and taste will remind you instantly, that it's almost Christmas.

Floyd the Food Guy shares his recipe for cider in this Extra On Your Plate.

                               Mulled Cider
                                                               Serves 4-6

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 gallon fresh cider
1 orange
1 lemon
cloves
cinnamon stick

PROCEDURE:
Place the cider in a pot of appropiate size. Cut a thick slice from the center of both the lemon and the orange. Juice the remaining slices and pour into the cider. Poke the skin of the slices of the lemon
and the orange with the tip of a paring knife. Force cloves into the holes, then drop them and the cinnamon into the cider. Bring to a
boil, lower the flame to a simmer and allow to steep for about
1-2 hours. Ladel into mugs or glasses and serve warm.

HINTS:
If you're expecting friends over for dinner, pour two parts mulled cider and one part cream sherry into mugs for a very satisfying
post prandial treat.
