According to the St. Petersburg Coast Guard, it happened just west of the bridge on the Pinellas side.
Witnesses report the plane was making a turn when the engine died, and the aircraft crashed headfirst into three feet of water.
People fishing near the bridge were able to get the two people on board out of the plane. The boaters took the victims to the docks at O'Neill's Restaurant, where the Coast Guard and other emergency personnel responded.
One of the victims refused treatment. The other was a teen who was transported to Bayfront Hospital. There is no word on the extent of his injuries.
