Identities of Tampa jurors won't be secret
Wednesday, November 30, 2005
A judge has denied prosecutors' requests to keep the identities of jurors secret in the trial of alleged cocaine cartel kingpin Joaquin Valencia-Trujillo.
Valencia-Trujillo is charged with drug and money laundering. Federal prosecutors believe he was a member of the Cali cartel since the early 1990s.
Prosecutors say Valencia-Trujillo hired hit teams to assassinate as many as 20 suspected witnesses to impede the investigations of convicted Miami kingpins Salvador Magluta and Augusto Falcon.
According to prosecutors, four deaths in the United States can be traced to Valencia-Trujillo.
