LAKE CITY, Fla. (AP) A large sinkhole is still growing in the
northern Florida community of Lake City.
Officials say it's close to swallowing a two-story house and
forcing the voluntary evacuation of a mobile home park.
Crews started sandbagging the source of water feeding the giant
sinkhole. Officials say the sinkhole is draining water from a pond
and a swamp. It could eventually affect the area's water supply.
Columbia County spokesman Harvey Campbell says the cavity is 225
feet long and 100 feet wide. Officials aren't sure how deep it is.
Lake City is about 60 miles west of Jacksonville.
