A well-known Tampa attorney may have some legal troubles of his own.
Dennis Hernandez, 36, founder of Dennis Hernandez and Associates, turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail Sunday. Tampa officers charged him with kidnapping and battery.
They say he fought with the mother of one of his children, kicked her and punched her, and would not immediately let her leave his home.
On Monday, the attorney defending Hernandez said the charges are meritless.
"He escorted her to the door and sent her, you know, through the door," said attorney Mike DeMinico. "What happened at that point I don't know, because he closed the door behind her."
A judge released Hernandez soon after he was booked into jail. He'll remain free as his case makes its way through the system.
