Infant drowns in Plant City

A Plant City family's 9-month-old baby girl drowned in the family swimming pool Tuesday morning.

It happened on McGee Road.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the mother of the child walked into another room, and left a side door open for the cats to go out. She returned to the room and noticed her baby missing and later found her floating in the pool.

Paramedics were called and performed CPR to no avail. The child was pronounced dead at South Baptist Hospital.
