Bolin's fate in judge's hands

Bolin could face the death penalty.
Hillsborough County Circuit Judge Barbara Fleischer will sentence convicted killer Oscar Ray Bolin.

A jury convicted Bolin last Thursday for the 1986 abduction and murder of Stephanie Collins, who was kidnapped from a Carrollwood drugstore. Two other convictions in the case were overturned on appeal.

Bolin, 44, waived his right to have the jury hear evidence in the penalty phase of this trial, meaning Fleisher will sentence him.

Fleisher has scheduled a hearing on a pre-sentencing investigation for Feb. 2, and says she may set a sentencing date at that hearing.

Bolin has also been convicted of murdering two other Bay area women in 1986.
