Citrus County sexual predator captured

The man who was the face of the most-wanted criminals in Citrus County is in custody.

Big red letters spelling "captured" are over Redford Mounce's mug shot on the Citrus County Sheriff's Office web site.

For months investigators had been searching for Mounce because he failed to register after changing addresses. U.S. marshals finally caught up with Mounce in New Orleans. Detectives said he was a huge priority to find because of his prior crimes.

"Our absconders are probably at the top of our list because not only do we not know where they are, but the community doesn't know where they are and that poses a threat," Jon Seffern of the Sexual Predators Unit said.

Mounce will have an extradition hearing before he is brought back to Citrus County to face charges. Citrus County has 190 registered sexual offenders and predators, five of whom are missing or absconded.
