A Kenneth City woman faces charges in connection with a serious animal neglect case in St. Petersburg.
Pinellas County deputies arrested 42-year-old Cheryl Sawyer as part of an investigation at a home on 56th Avenue Sunday morning. Pinellas County Animal Control removed more than 100 birds of various species, two dogs, two turtles and a rabbit.
Investigators said the conditions inside the home were unhealthy. They saw animal feces throughout the home along with numerous hanging bug traps full of dead insects. The house also contained many cages in need of cleaning, some of which contained what appeared to be sick birds.
