Security guard killed in Clearwater hotel shooting

The shooting happened at the Fairfield Inn Friday morning.

A deadly shooting took place at the Fairfield Inn on Gulf to Bay Boulevard about 5:30 Friday morning.

Police said a masked man walked inside the hotel to rob it. A security guard was shot and killed.

The guard was a subcontractor and did not work for the hotel chain. His identity has not been released yet.

The suspect is described as being 6 feet tall, heavy set, about 200 pounds, and about 30 years old.

Investigators are viewing a surveillance video to get a clearer description of the suspect.
