This dog needs to lose some weight, but he has plenty of company among other canines.

It's The Biggest Loser combined with Dog Eat Dog -- a weight loss competition for canines.

Veterinary Neuro Services in Sarasota is holding the Big Dog, Big Loser canine competition to help prevent health problems in dogs.

For the next three months, Manatee and Sarasota County dogs won't be licking their chops as much. Instead they'll work out three times a week and stick to frequent meals every few hours.

The contest runs through April 12.
