Two killed in late night crash near Gandy Boulevard

Two people died in a crash on I-275 south just north of Gandy Boulevard late Sunday night.

PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Two people died in a five-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 275 south just north of Gandy Boulevard late Sunday night.

Florida Highway Patrol said the vehicles were going through a construction zone when the last vehicle in line hit the one in front of it causing a domino effect about 10:45 p.m.

Three others received minor injuries in the crash, which shut down southbound lanes of the interstate for several hours.
