ST. PETERSBURG (Bay News 9) -- One person died and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident involving a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus Saturday afternoon.
St. Petersburg police said a Buick, driven by 81-year-old Theresa Brock, was traveling on 17th Avenue North in St. Petersburg when the Brock tried to cross 49th Street.
A bus, traveling on 49th Street, hit Brock's car on the drivers side. Brock was transported to the hospital where she later died. Her sister was a passenger in the car. She was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
Investigators believe Brock violated the right of way of the bus.
Police said the bus driver swerved to avoid Brock and pushed another car into oncoming traffic. The driver of that car was not injured.
Two of the 12 passengers on the bus were injured.
