A Clearwater woman died Friday morning after using oxygen while smoking a cigarette.

An assisted living facility resident died Friday morning from injuries suffered in a fire.

Investigators said 76-year-old Barbara Foisey was smoking a cigarette while using oxygen in her room at the Sunset Villa Retirement Home in Clearwater, causing a small fire to ignite.

Foisey fell to the floor and was incapacitated. Investigators said she suffered burns around her mouth and was transported to Mease-Dunedin Hospital, where she later died.

No other injuries were reported and the fire did not cause any structural damage to the facility.
