Man arrested in cancer fund theft
Kristopher Michael Russ has been charged with grand theft.
The man responsible for stealing money being collected for a cancer-stricken girl has been arrested, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Kristopher Michael Russ is the man captured on surveillance tape taking a charity jar loaded with cash off the counter at a Brandon Dairy Queen last week.
The money was being collected for a local four-year-old girl fighting cancer.
The jar was found after the robbery but it was empty.
Deputies returned it to the restaurant, and added their own donation.
Russ, 24, is facing two theft charges, one of which has been classified as grand theft.
Also, he has a previous charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license. He is being held without bond.
