Concerns about brushfires throughout the state prompted the need for the burn ban.
Florida's statewide burn ban is over.
State officials have said the rains received during the past week throughout the state have reduced the fire danger enough to lift the ban.
State Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson lifted the burn ban today that had been in place because of the state's drought. Burning yard waste was banned a month ago as dry conditions created several wildfires around the state.
Although Bronson said recent rain has reduced the danger of fires statewide enough to warrant lifting the ban, he continues to urge caution.
Some cities and counties have local laws against outdoor burning, so residents should check with local officials.
In places where it's legal, yard waste must be burned in a noncombustible container or in a small pile, and attended at all times.
