ST. PETERSBURG (Bay News 9) -- A new exhibit is opening at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg.
The new exhibit, Wilfredo Lam in North America, celebrates the work of Afro-Cuban artist Wilfredo Lam. Lam was born in Cuba in 1902 and studied with one of Dali's former teachers in Spain. His style was also influenced by African-derived religion.
His artwork can be found in major museums around the world, including New York's Museum of Modern Art and London's Tate Modern.
His paintings will be on display in St. Petersburg until Jan. 11, 2009.
