HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9)--A female coffee shop employee tackled a man Friday, after he allegedly robbed the Valrico State Bank.
The woman works at Da Silva's Coffee shop, and is a trained German Police officer.
Sheriff's Deputies said that Jeffrey Merritt robbed the bank, and ran past the coffee shop on the way to his car.
When the employee saw Merritt, carrying something and looking behind him, run past her, she chased him down, told him to freeze and then tackled him.
"I knew she was a trained officer but I didn't know what that really meant," said Karen Raga, a co-worker.
Raga said that the woman was about half the size of Merritt.
Deputies suspect that Merritt is linked to other area robberies.
