Despite high gas prices and a sluggish economy, a small city of vehicles has rolled into Brooksville.
About 2,000 RVs have gathered at the Hernando County Airport for the Southeast Area Family Motorcoach Association.
RV owners from across the country have made the trip. They have come from as far away North Carolina, New Jersey and Oregon for the event. Going on through Sunday, the RV rally is making its members feel right at home.
Officials have set up a small city for the RVs, complete with roads, sidewalks, public transportation via golf carts and even a post office.
The Hernando County Chamber of Commerce said the Brooskville area's restaurants and shops will see a spike in business thanks to the RV convention.
And this is all in spite of the high cost of fuel.
With prices to fill up their massive motor coaches easily reaching $200 or more, it's not cheap to motor across the country.
"It's just another expense,' said Tom Schwab, who said he pays anywhere from $250 to $300 every time he fills up his RV's gas tank. "It hurts but what are you going to do?'
