ST. PETERSBURG (Bay News 9) -- St. Petersburg Police arrested a 25-year-old Gibbs High School teacher Wednesday afternoon.
Darren Snieszko is a science teacher at Gibbs High School. He is charged with interference with custody, a felony.
Police say on April 11 a female student at Gibbs High School complained to school administrators that Snieszko was engaged in inappropriate relationships with some female students at the school.
On the same day, police say another female student, 16, and her mother contacted the St. Petersburg Police Department to file a criminal complaint against him.
They said that Snieszko had sent the girl a variety of romantic messages, using MySpace, cell phone text messages and email instant messages.
They told also police that Snieszko had enticed the girl student to go on a field trip to the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa.
They said he provided personal transportation and paid for the victim's admission with his Pinellas County School teacher's discount card, however no other students or teachers accompanied them.
Investigators are continuing to investigate this case and are requesting that anyone with additional information about possible victims should contact the Communications Center at 727-893-7711.
