HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9 exclusive) -- An 8 months pregnant Lutz woman has been arrested for driving under the influence and other charges.
Hillsborough County deputies said Nicole Vanneil, 22, was swerving and crossed the yellow line while driving on Hanna Road in Lutz on April 17. They said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from Vanneil's car and found marijuana in a pill container and a pipe under her seat. They also said they found drug paraphernalia in her car's center console.
Vanneil spoke exclusively to Bay News 9.
Deputies said Vanneil showed signs of impairment and failed a field sobriety test.
Vanneil has previous driving under the influence arrests. One occurred in February 2004 and the other in April 2005, but the charge in 2005 was dropped to reckless driving.
Vanneil is charged with DUI, possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. She faces up to a year in jail.
Because Vanneil refused a breathalyzer test, her driver's license was been suspended for a year under Florida law.
She was released from jail on $1,500 bond.
