PASCO COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- The family of a Tampa police officer killed earlier this month in a motorcycle crash has filed an intent to sue Pasco County.
Victor Guerrero was killed May 1 in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 41. His family is alleging that a Pasco County employee driving a county vehicle was responsible for the wreck that killed the 20-year veteran of the Tampa Police Department.
The county government received two letters informing leaders that they intend to sue for wrongful death and negligence.
The attorneys for the Guerrero family did not give specific dollar amounts for damages sought, but they are demanding compensation for the losses of his widow and three of his six children.
The county hasn't released a statement about the letters yet, but they have said they are conducting their own internal investigation into the accident.
