BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) -- The oldest living manatee in captivity
will celebrate his 60th birthday at the South Florida Museum's Parker Manatee Aquarium in Bradenton.
A party for Snooty the manatee will be held Saturday near his
60,000-gallon tank. Museum workers expect 4,000 people to show up to the birthday party.
Snooty is 9-feet, 4-inches and weighs 1,260 pounds. He's lost a bit of weight since his last birthday because he's on a diet, museum workers say. He eats 70 to 80 pounds of lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, carrots and kale everyday.
Snooty was born in captivity in Miami in 1948.
