Son sought in Tampa stabbings

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for a 21-year-old man after his three family members were stabbed in their home.

According to deputies, 49-year-old James McElroy died in the stabbing, which happened just after 4 a.m. on Hollyglen Drive in the Carrollwood area of Tampa.

The two other victims, 53-year-old Karen McElroy and her daughter 18-year-old Michelle McElroy, were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital. They are both in critical condition.

Another daughter was in the home at the time of the stabbings but escaped unharmed.

Authorities are attempting to locate James Kenneth McElroy, 21, who also resides at the home but was unaccounted for. Officials said McElroy is driving a 1989 blue Jaguar with the license plate 936 HWQ.

A first degree murder warrant and two counts of attempted first-degree murder have been issued for McElroy.

Officials said there is no known motive yet for why the younger McElroy would stab his parents and sister.
