PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Gov. Charlie Crist is engaged to his girlfriend of nine months, Carole Rome.

Crist, 51, had been single for nearly three decades.

No wedding date has been set but Crist told Bay News 9's newspaper partner the St. Petersburg Times it would take place in St. Petersburg with the reception likely in Tallahassee.

Rome, 38, has two children, ages 9 and 11, with former husband Todd Rome, CEO of Blue Star Jets.

She is the president of Franco American Novelty Company, a 100-year-old family business.
