BAY AREA (Bay News 9) -- Just in time for the Fourth of July holiday, one Bay area beach is open for beachgoers.
However, another Bay area beach has issued a new warning.
The Citrus County Health department has lifted an advisory at the Fort Island Gulf Beach.
Authorities said new water samples taken early this week showed bacteria levels for enterococci and fecal matter are low and considered acceptable.
Meanwhile, the North Shore Beach in Pinellas County is under a saltwater advisory.
The water is showing a high bacterial count and officials said it could be dangerous to swimmers.
