(Bay News 9) 5:30 a.m. -- A Tropical Storm warning is issued for portions of the Bay News 9 viewing area, as Fay continues making its way slowly across Florida.

Fay could reach the Gulf of Mexico Friday.

A Tropical Storm warning has been issued for the gulf coast of Florida from Aripeka (near the Pasco/ Hernando County line) northward and westward to Indian Pass. Hernando and Citrus counties are under a flood watch until Friday evening.

Citrus County has canceled school on Friday in anticipation of heavy rains from Fay.

Fay came ashore once again Thursday afternoon near Flagler Beach on the state's east coast.

As of 5 a.m. Friday, Fay is moving west at 2 mph. Fay's winds remain about 60 mph closest to the center.

Even though the potential path takes Fay across northern Florida, gusty wind and heavy rain will be felt across much of the state.

Fay should weaken as it moves across the state, although it could pick up strength again if it goes into the Gulf of Mexico.

Rain chances from Fay remain high on Saturday, and the Bay area still has a good chance of rain from tropical moisture in the area through Sunday.

Isolated tornadoes from Fay are possible over portions of northeastern Florida and southeast Georgia.

Also, a Tropical Storm watch is issued from west of Indian Pass westward to Destin. A Tropical Storm warning remains in effect from Sebastian Inlet, Florida northward to the Savannah River at the border between Georgia and South Carolina.
