Middle school teaching assistant faces sex charges

TAMPA (Bay News 9) -- Tampa Police arrested a Memorial Middle School teacher's assistant.

John Robert Ring, Jr., 37, is accused of soliciting sex and soliciting child pornography with a 17-year-old girl.

Police say the teenage girl contacted them in March after the suspect solicited her through a text message to have sex with him. Police say Ring also solicited her to take pornographic photographs.

Police say on Thursday, he arranged a meeting with the victim. When he arrived, detectives arrested Ring.

Police say the suspect met the victim through her mother. The victim never attended Memorial Middle School where the suspect works. Ring did not work in the classroom, but provided support to teachers.
