MANATEE COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- A Manatee County couple have two of the (second) hottest tickets in town. (First may be Super Bowl tickets, depending on who you talk to.)
Mike Kennedy of Bradenton, a Barack Obama campaign volunteer, and his wife, Jacki, will be heading to Washington D.C. The couple have tickets to the presidential inauguration.
"A lot of people say it's fitting with the volunteering you've been doing," Kennedy said. "And the time you've put into that you got tickets."
Kennedy won the tickets via lottery through Congressman Vern Buchanan's office, which was issued 198 tickets. Buchanan's office says they received more than 1,000 requests.
"We were very, very lucky," Kennedy said. "It's a history making event and we're just so thrilled we get to see it in person."
