A woman receives the swine flu vaccination Tuesday.

HERNANDO COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- The Hernando County Health Department began public vaccinations for the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, on Tuesday.

The vaccinations took place at the Hernando County fair grounds. The health department has about 800 intranasal vaccinations available, but few people turned out for the vaccinations Tuesday.

Another vaccination clinic is scheduled in Hernando County this weekend. The Hernando County Health Department will offer free vaccinations from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday in the cafeteria at Nature Coast Technical High School in Brooksville.

The Pasco County Health Department will offer free intranasal and injectable vaccinations Thursday evening in New Port Richey and Dade City.

Call the Pasco County Health Department at 727-861-5250, ext. 225 for information about the time and place of the vaccinations.
