PASCO COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- A Pasco County woman known for her sewing skills is doing something to help children with cancer.
Diana Cofield makes totes for them in her Dade City home. She calls them Purses with a Purpose.
What began as a hobby has turned into a new direction in Cofield's life.
"The inspiration and the strength I get from them is beyond belief," she said.
Each one of her bags will be delivered to children with cancer all over the country who are in hospitals and those at home, like Morgan Pierce, who has stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer.
Pierce will take her bag to New York as she receives her next round of cancer treatments.
Cofield gets to deliver some of her bags in person, which takes on a even deeper meaning.
"It's to show them that even a stranger is aware of what they're going through," Cofield said.
