Avery Ralston makes a grand entrance Saturday.

TAMPA (Bay News 9) -- They put their own lives on the line every day to keep the public safe.

But Saturday night Tampa's firefighters and police officers were helping to save lives in a very different way.

They took to the football field to help children with cancer at the annual Badge Bowl.

Every year they honor one child with cancer. This year that child was 5-year-old Avery Ralston.

Money from the event will be divided between the Ralston family, the One-Voice Foundation and the Foundation of Courage.

The firefighters won the game by a score of 26-24.
